To be considered for a CMJC tuition scholarship, you must be a credible messenger with a demonstrated impact in a New York City community who lacks the means to pay tuition and/or will not be seeking reimbursement from an employer-sponsored tuition reimbursement program.. Priority will be given to credible messengers/mentors who are currently employed by a community-based organization under contract to a New York City government agency and working as a credible messenger/mentor in programs including, for example: Arches Transformative Mentoring, Next STEPS, AIM [Advocate, Intervene, Mentor], Intensive Community Monitoring, Cure Violence, and parent coach/parent support programs.
Keep in mind that you will also need to apply to the CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies for admission into the appropriate level of the Community Leadership Certificate program -- undergraduate-level or graduate-level (based on your academic record). After submitting the online scholarship application, you will receive a notification of the scholarship award decision in 2-3 weeks. If you have been awarded the scholarship, instructions on how to apply for admission to CUNY will also be provided.
